With the warm sun shining brightly and a cool chill to the air, we walked the boardwalk of Asbury Park; truly amazed of just how far it’s come since the devastating destruction of hurricane sandy. The boardwalk itself is almost completely rebuilt, the little shops have started to return, and even some brave troubadours graced the newly laid wooden planks. The presence of community is strong, and families picnicked on the beach, as dogs ran through the calm waves. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful reminder that what was taken, will be returned. Stronger, a little more weary but just as beautiful.
“Here I came to the very edge
where nothing at all needs saying,
everything is absorbed through weather and the sea,
and the moon swam back,
its rays all silvered,
and time and again the darkness would be broken
by the crash of a wave,
and every day on the balcony of the sea,
wings open, fire is born,
and everything is blue again like morning.
